Trout

At Helms Fishing we Believe in patience and trophy trout require a bunch of it. Finding the right habitat then covering that habitat thoroughly is the recipe for catching big trout. We throw topwaters and large lures such as “Corky Fat Boys” to weed out smaller fish so when you get a bite you know it could be the fish we are after.

Redfish

Being push poled through the shallows or seeing schools of bulls just off the banks, these fish live in diverse habitats as you can find them in 6 inches of water or busting bait out in the middle of the bay. They will take many different baits and lures. They are a pretty agreeable fish as long as you don’t spook them in your approach.

Tarpon

The most exciting fish in florida. Anchoring up just off the prettiest beaches in the world is one of the best scenes anyone could ask for then adding a couple 100 lbs. monsters swimming straight to you is sure to get your knees shaking. The catch is though they are very picky eaters and spook very easily. Once you have one on your line you never quite view fishing the same.

Happy Accidents

There are tons of different species here that we don’t really target but catch plenty of. Flounder, Pompano, and Tripletail are all outstanding tablefare that we see plenty of. Flounder share the same habitat as trout and reds, while pompano prefer to be more on a sand bottom with lots of current. Tripletail like to be lazy and hang out under buoys and other structures floating around in the water.
